Town Hall 14 is where the game's complexity takes a significant step up. Hero Pets — four companions that follow specific heroes and target specific defense types — arrive here for the first time. The Electro Owl hunts air defenses, LASSI jumps walls to support nearby troops, the Unicorn heals the hero it follows, and Frosty unleashes Frosted Fliers. Every TH14 base type has to account for what these pets prioritize, because their targeting behavior is independent of how well your compartments are laid out.
War bases at TH14 focus on slowing the Queen Walk Ground opener — the dominant attack strategy at this level. Spacing air defenses across the full width of the base forces the Electro Owl to travel further between targets. Burying key defenses like Scattershots and X-Bows inside multiple wall layers makes the walk phase more expensive and time-consuming. CWL bases take this further, engineering specifically for time failures rather than outright star denial. Both types need Root Rider trap coverage: Giant Bombs on likely underground paths toward the Town Hall and inner Scattershots.
Trophy bases protect the Town Hall above all else. At TH14, a well-positioned Town Hall in the base core — with Scattershots covering the approach corridors — means most casual attackers can't 2-star cleanly without committing a full army. The Clan Castle placed adjacent to the Town Hall adds CC troop pressure exactly when the attacking army is most depleted from fighting through outer sections. Air defenses near the Town Hall core also limit Balloon and Electro Dragon trophy raids that otherwise run through bases with exposed air defense clusters.
Farming bases at TH14 expose the Town Hall near the edge — a deliberate sacrifice that lets attackers grab 1 star quickly and move on without touching your resource storages. Dark Elixir storage should be in the very center, surrounded by the base's strongest defenses. Gold and Elixir storages sit in mid-ring compartments, expensive enough to reach that most farmers won't bother. The goal is to make the Town Hall the path of least resistance while making everything else maximally inconvenient.

If you just reached TH14, start with a war base from the most-downloaded filter and run it through two or three regular wars before CWL. Watch replays of attacks against you — specifically how far the Queen Walk got and which defenses the Electro Owl hit first. That information tells you whether the air defense spacing in your current layout is working or needs adjustment before league play.
