Town Hall 12 is defined by two major unlocks: the Scattershot (a long-range bouncing boulder that shreds air armies) and the Giga Tesla, which replaces the Town Hall's Giga Cannon and provides continuous damage output throughout a raid. Understanding how to use both defensively determines whether you hold 2 stars or give up 3.

The TH12 Defensive Toolkit

TH12 is the first level where base design becomes genuinely multi-layered. Key defenses to position carefully:

  • Scattershot -- place on opposite corners to cross-cover air approaches. Dragons and Balloons can't approach from either side without eating Scattershot fire
  • Giga Tesla Town Hall -- the TH now actively fights back during raids. Bury it deep so the Giga Tesla fires multiple times before the attacker reaches it
  • Eagle Artillery -- your single most important defense. Centrally placed, protected by at least two wall layers on all sides
  • Inferno Towers -- now at full TH12 count. Place single-mode Inferno Towers near the core to counter high-HP heroes and tank troops

Most Common TH12 Attack Strategies

  • Queen Walk + Hog Riders -- the classic pairing that's been dominant since TH11. The Queen strips the outside while Hogs cycle inside
  • Electro Dragon spam -- chain lightning shreds tightly packed defenses; your Scattershots are the primary counter
  • Lavaloon -- Lava Hounds tank air defenses while Balloons deal damage; targets your air defense spacing
  • Bat Spell attacks -- Witches and Bat Spells flooding the base with Skeletons that overwhelm splash defenses

Stopping Electro Dragon Attacks

The Electro Dragon's chain lightning jumps between nearby buildings, so keeping buildings spread out reduces its damage output significantly. Your Scattershots placed on opposite ends of the base ensure that any air force approaching from one side takes splash damage immediately. Good TH12 war bases create spacing on the outside while keeping key defenses tightly grouped inside -- this forces Electro Dragons to waste their chain on low-value buildings.

The Double Giant Bomb Rule

Hog Riders are killed by Double Giant Bombs on their pathing corridors. At TH12, you have enough base space to create three or four reliable DGB positions. The most effective TH12 war bases place these inside wall compartments that Hog Riders are funneled through after entering the base -- not on the perimeter where they might be triggered by other troops.
