Town Hall 13 introduced two game-changing defenses: the Scattershot, a long-range boulder launcher that devastates air armies, and the Giga Inferno, an upgraded Town Hall weapon that pulses damage to nearby troops. Together they create defensive angles that, when designed correctly, make TH13 one of the more technical levels to 3-star.

The TH13 Defense Meta (2026)

At TH13, the most common attack strategies you need to defend against are:

• Queen Walk + Hog Riders -- the classic war pairing, still dominant at TH13
• Root Rider armies -- increasingly used at TH13 since the troop becomes available at TH15 but lower-level players face these attacks in mixed CWL
• Super Witch armies -- mass Skeletons supported by Witches overwhelming defenses from multiple angles
• Air spam -- Electro Dragons, Balloons, and Minions aiming to shut down the Scattershot quickly

What Makes a Strong TH13 War Base

• Scattershot placement -- positioned to cover as much of the base perimeter as possible, since it outranges most ground troops
• Giga Inferno protection -- the Town Hall should be buried deep with multiple wall layers; losing the TH to a quick Queen Walk is a common 3-star route
• Eagle Artillery centrally placed -- the Eagle is your highest-priority defense after the TH and should never be exposed to easy outside-in pathing
• Bomb and trap density -- Hog Riders remain the most common TH13 attack and respond poorly to well-placed Double Giant Bombs

How the Giga Inferno Changes Base Design

The Giga Inferno turns the Town Hall itself into an active defense. When it activates, it pulses damage in an area around the TH, making Queen Walks that rush the TH much riskier. The best TH13 war bases take advantage of this by placing the TH where an attacker is forced to send their Queen through it early -- burning her health against the Giga pulse before the main army even deploys.

Defending the Scattershot

Attackers who know what they're doing will try to funnel Dragon Riders or Electro Dragons straight at your Scattershot first. Counter this by placing the Scattershot inside a ring of air defenses and Air Sweepers -- approaching it means flying through all of them.
