TH16 Dragon Rider Guide 2026 -- Air Attack with Multi-Archer Tower Avoidance

Complete TH16 Dragon Rider guide for 2026. Multi-Archer Tower concentrated fire routing, Ricochet Cannon air immunity, Warden timing, and spell management for three-star air war attacks.

TH16 Dragon Rider faces the Multi-Archer Tower as the primary new air threat. The Multi-Archer Tower fires multiple arrows simultaneously at a single air target, dealing concentrated burst damage that can destroy Dragon Riders faster than any single defense at lower TH levels. The Ricochet Cannon is irrelevant to Dragon Riders (it only fires on ground troops) and the Monolith is irrelevant (air troops only). The TH16 Dragon Rider adaptation is approach angle selection that routes the Dragon Rider line so the Multi-Archer Tower fires on a side target rather than the center of the approach wave.

Army Composition and Spells

Standard TH16 Dragon Rider (340 housing): 5 to 6 Dragon Riders (super boost, 50 to 60 housing), 5 Dragons (100 housing), 4 Electro Dragons (100 housing), 5 Balloons (10 -- cleanup), filler Minions (remaining ~70). Spells: 3 Lightning + 1 Earthquake (destroy one AD), 2 Rage, 2 Freeze (Multi-Archer Tower and Eagle Artillery or Scattershot), 1 Haste. Clan Castle: Dragon or Balloon. Warden on air mode. TH16 housing (340) allows five to six Dragon Riders -- one to two more than TH15.

Step-by-Step Execution

Step 1 -- Lightning pre-attack: Destroy the AD closest to the Multi-Archer Tower. Reducing one air defense from the Multi-Archer Tower side reduces concentrated fire on Dragon Riders approaching from that sector. Step 2 -- Multi-Archer Tower approach angle: Choose an entry point that places the Multi-Archer Tower perpendicular to the Dragon Rider line rather than directly ahead. Perpendicular positioning means only the nearest Dragon Rider takes concentrated fire rather than the entire line. Step 3 -- Dragon Rider deployment: Deploy Dragon Riders across the approach edge, then Dragons, then EDrags. Step 4 -- Warden air mode: Behind the combined air force. Activate ability on Multi-Archer Tower concentrated burst or Eagle Artillery. Step 5 -- First Freeze: On Multi-Archer Tower when it concentrates fire on the Dragon Rider at the front of the line. This prevents the concentrated multi-arrow burst from destroying the leading Dragon Rider before mounting. Step 6 -- First Rage: On the Dragon Rider cluster engaging the outer ring. Step 7 -- Second Freeze: On Eagle Artillery burst. Second Rage: On the inner ring / Town Hall approach. Step 8 -- Balloon and Minion cleanup behind the Dragon wave.

Multi-Archer Tower Mechanics

The Multi-Archer Tower fires multiple arrows simultaneously at a single target. All arrows target the same troop. Against a Dragon Rider, this concentrated fire deals the equivalent of multiple Archer Towers firing simultaneously at the same target. The avoidance strategy routes the Dragon Rider line so the Multi-Archer Tower must choose a side target rather than a front-and-center target in the approach path.
