Best TH14 War Bases 2026 — Defending Against Hero Pets

Hero Pets arrived at TH14 and changed attack planning more than any single troop addition since the Royal Champion. Each pet follows a specific hero and targets a specific type of defense — the Electro Owl attacks air defenses, LASSI jumps walls to reach nearby troops, the Unicorn heals the hero it follows. A TH14 war base can no longer be designed just around troop pathing — it has to account for what each pet will prioritize when it splits from its hero.

How Pet Targeting Affects Base Design

The Electro Owl, paired with the Archer Queen, homes in on air defenses. If your air defenses are clustered on one side of the base, a Queen Charge with Electro Owl strips them all in one run. Spreading air defenses across the base forces the Owl to travel further between targets, spending more time in range of your other defenses. No two air defenses should be within two compartments of each other in a TH14 war base — that spacing is the primary counter to Electro Owl-assisted Queen Charges.

Queen Walk Ground With Pets

The dominant TH14 attack in 2026 is the Queen Walk Ground — the Archer Queen walks the base perimeter supported by her pet and Healers while the main ground army waits to deploy. This opener strips key defenses and builds a funnel for the main push. TH14 war bases counter it by burying the defenses the AQ wants to target, forcing her walk route deeper into the base where she takes damage from Scattershots and X-Bows rather than just outer-ring defenses.

Root Rider Appears at TH14

Root Rider armies — the dominant strategy at TH15 and TH16 — also appear in TH14 attack armies, since the troop is accessible through Clan Capital research before TH15. A TH14 war base needs Giant Bomb coverage on likely underground paths, particularly toward the Town Hall and any Scattershots in the inner compartments. Multi Bombs placed two layers inside the perimeter catch Root Riders that survive the initial bomb corridor.
