TH13 anti-air defense benefits from four heroes all capable of contributing against air attacks when set appropriately. The Warden on air mode protects key air defenses from Dragon Rider chain DPS. Four-quadrant AD spread prevents Lightning Spell openers from disabling multiple ADs. Both Scattershots positioned for cross-fire coverage on Dragon approach corridors create a comprehensive air defense system.

Grand Warden Air Mode Positioning

The Grand Warden on air mode at TH13 creates an aura bubble that temporarily blocks damage to nearby air troops -- defensively, this means his radius covers your most vulnerable Air Defenses. Position the Warden adjacent to your central Air Defense so his air mode radius extends to two or three other ADs simultaneously. A Dragon Rider push entering the Warden coverage zone takes full air troop damage but the ADs inside the radius receive temporary protection, extending their operational window significantly.

Four-Quadrant Air Defense Spread

With four Air Defenses, maintain one per quadrant across the base. No two ADs should be within 12 tiles of each other -- the range of a double Lightning Spell combo. This spread ensures ZapQuake openers cannot pre-destroy more than one AD before the Dragon Rider army deploys. Each surviving AD fires independently, and Dragon Rider pushes from any direction face an AD before reaching the Town Hall area.

Scattershot Air Corridor Positioning

At TH13, Dragon Rider attacks typically approach from the base edge with the fewest outer buildings -- the path of least resistance. Position both Scattershots to cover the two most open approach corridors on your base edge. A Dragon Rider funnel that avoids one Scattershot flies into the other. Scattershot cross-fire combined with four-quadrant AD coverage means no air approach direction is undefended.
