Best TH16 anti-ground base designs for 2026. Ricochet Cannon punishing ground troop clusters, Root Rider trap corridors, and Monolith in the burrowing path stop all major ground attacks.

TH16 adds the Ricochet Cannon, a defense that deals chain damage to clustered ground troops. Combined with the existing Monolith, this gives TH16 two percentage-effective defenses against the Root Rider and Super Witch ground attacks that dominate this level. An anti-ground base places both in series along the primary ground attack corridor, creating a kill gauntlet that eliminates most ground push armies before they can reach the Town Hall.

Ricochet Cannon on the Ground Approach Corridor

The Ricochet Cannon fires a projectile that bounces between troops in close proximity, dealing chain damage to clustered groups. Ground attack armies -- Root Riders, Super Witches with Skeleton swarms, Golems -- are the most tightly clustered troop type in the game. Place the Ricochet Cannon at the entry point of the primary ground approach corridor, where the attacking army first clusters inside your base. Chain damage at this density can eliminate 20 to 30% of a Root Rider or Super Witch stack in a single firing cycle.

Monolith and Ricochet Cannon in Series

Position the Monolith two compartments behind the Ricochet Cannon along the same corridor. A ground army that survives Ricochet chain damage immediately encounters Monolith percentage damage. These two defenses in series create a dual-percentage-scaling gauntlet: chain damage reduces the stack count, then percentage damage efficiently kills the surviving high-HP units regardless of their remaining HP. No ground army can efficiently tank through both in sequence.

Giant Bomb and Skeleton Trap Flanking

Flank both the Ricochet Cannon and Monolith compartments with Giant Bomb clusters and Skeleton Traps on ground mode. Giant Bombs placed adjacent to these compartments catch Root Riders and Golems that attempt to burrow or advance around the main corridor. Skeleton Traps on ground mode add melee harassment that splits the attacking army's targeting between Skeleton enemies and your defenses, further slowing the ground push.
