The strategic logic of TH17 farming mirrors lower levels: protect DE above all else, use Gold and Elixir as bait at the perimeter, and make your core genuinely expensive to reach.

What New Defenses TH17 Adds for Farming

Each Town Hall level adds defenses that can be used to reinforce the farming base core. At TH17, these new structures should be prioritized around DE Storage and Drill protection rather than spread evenly across the base. A new defense placed in the outer sacrificial ring protects nothing of value — placed in the core, it makes the DE genuinely harder to reach.

The principle applies regardless of the specific defense: evaluate each new placement based on whether it covers a path attackers use to reach your Dark Elixir, not based on where it looks best geometrically.
