Best TH9 Anti-Ground Base 2026 -- Stop GoWiPe and GoHo

At TH9, the dominant ground attacks are GoWiPe (Golems, Wizards, P.E.K.K.A.s) and GoHo (Golems, Hog Riders). Both attacks rely on different weaknesses -- GoWiPe needs wide funnels through wall compartments, and GoHo needs clear Hog Rider paths to defenses. An anti-ground base at TH9 closes off these specific approach patterns while keeping aerial defenses intact as a secondary layer.

Countering GoWiPe with Tight Compartments

GoWiPe depends on a wide funnel -- Golems tank at the front while Wizards clear buildings on either side. Counter this with tight, narrow compartments that channel Golems into single-file corridors where P.E.K.K.A.s and Wizards cannot fan out. Mortars inside these corridors deal heavy splash damage to Wizard stacks. X-Bows on ground mode shred Golems from adjacent compartments before the GoWiPe army can clear room to spread. Spring Traps placed at corridor chokepoints bounce Wizards out of key positions.

Giant Bomb Clusters for GoHo

Hog Riders jump walls and target the nearest defense. Map the three most direct paths Hogs take from the edge of your base to your first-ring defenses, and place double Giant Bomb clusters at the midpoint of each path. Hogs bunched together between two Giant Bombs take lethal overlapping splash. Add single Giant Bombs at alternate approach angles so Hogs face Giant Bomb coverage regardless of which direction they enter. Spring Traps on Hog corridors add kill capacity on top of Giant Bomb coverage.

X-Bow and Mortar Ground Coverage

Two X-Bows on ground mode provide the heaviest single-target damage to ground armies at TH9. Position them in the second ring covering the two corridors your Giant Bombs do not fully cover. Mortars should overlap their splash radius with the X-Bow kill zones to create areas where multiple high-DPS defenses stack. Archer Towers in the outer ring slow ground approaches while Giant Bombs in the corridors handle the actual kills.
