Most TH9 players need one base that handles both war defense and resource protection. A hybrid base threads this needle by keeping the Town Hall inside walls (protecting one war star) while placing Dark Elixir and Gold Storages in a protected inner ring rather than exposing them as bait at the edges. You give up some pure-war efficiency but gain meaningful loot protection all day.

Dark Elixir Placement in a Hybrid Layout

The Dark Elixir Storage is the highest-value target at TH9. In a hybrid layout, it sits two compartments inside the outer wall -- protected enough to survive most raids, accessible enough that you are not funneling your entire defensive design around it. X-Bows on adjacent compartments cover the most direct approach paths to the DE storage. Mortars provide splash on Goblin or Barch armies that try to powerbore through the outer ring.

Staying War-Viable While Protecting Resources
