TH16 Super Dragon Guide 2026 -- Fireball Overwhelm with New Defense Counters

TH16 Super Dragon is one of the strongest air attacks at this level because two of the three new TH16 defenses (Ricochet Cannon and Monolith) do not affect air troops at all. Only the Multi-Archer Tower threatens the Super Dragon cluster. With only one new defense requiring adaptation, TH16 Super Dragon executes similarly to TH15 with the addition of Multi-Archer Tower approach angle management. The fireball area damage at TH16 is powerful enough to three-star most bases when approach angle and Freeze spell timing are correct.

Army Composition and Spells

Standard TH16 Super Dragon swarm (340 housing): 9 to 10 Super Dragons (super boost, 180 to 200 housing), 5 Balloons (10 -- cleanup), filler Minions (remaining ~130 to 150). Spells: 3 Lightning + 1 Earthquake (destroy one AD), 2 Rage, 2 Freeze (Multi-Archer Tower and Eagle Artillery / Scattershot), 1 Haste. Clan Castle: Dragon or Balloon. Warden on air mode. RC Electro Owl ground support: deploy RC adjacent to approach edge. TH16 housing (340) allows 9 to 10 Super Dragons -- maximum fireball DPS for any TH level.

Step-by-Step Execution

Step 1 -- Lightning pre-attack: Destroy one AD with 3 Lightning + 1 Earthquake. Step 2 -- Multi-Archer Tower position assessment: Identify the Multi-Archer Tower location. Choose approach angle from the side where the Multi-Archer Tower is at the edge of the Super Dragon cluster path rather than directly in front. Step 3 -- RC Electro Owl: Deploy RC adjacent to the approach edge. Electro Owl chains from RC to nearby air defenses including the Multi-Archer Tower as RC walks the base perimeter. Step 4 -- Super Dragon cluster: Drop 9 to 10 Super Dragons in a tight cluster (3 to 4 tiles apart) at the approach edge. Step 5 -- Warden air mode: Behind the cluster. Activate on Multi-Archer Tower concentrated burst or Eagle Artillery. Step 6 -- First Rage: On the Super Dragon cluster engaging the outer ring. Step 7 -- First Freeze: On Multi-Archer Tower when it concentrates fire on the front Super Dragon in the cluster. Step 8 -- Second Rage: On the inner ring / Town Hall approach. Second Freeze: On Eagle Artillery burst or Scattershot concentrated fire. Step 9 -- Balloon and Minion cleanup. Haste on Balloons.

Why Super Dragon Excels at TH16

Most TH16 bases are optimized to counter ground armies because the Ricochet Cannon and Monolith are the flagship TH16 defenses and both target ground troops. Base designs that heavy-invest in Ricochet Cannon and Monolith positioning necessarily have fewer resources invested in air defense optimization. Super Dragons -- completely immune to both TH16 flagship defenses -- exploit this base design gap.
